To save money on prescription medications for your pets, call pharmacies in your area to find the lowest cost available. Some are the same as humans take, just a lower dose. I was paying $20-$30 a month for each dog's pills from my Vet. I found a pharmacy that sells them for $4 each, and they will deliver if needed. My Vet didn't mind faxing them the prescriptions.

I don't use chemicals, because of the harmful effects on the environment, our pets and on us.
White distilled vinegar will clean and naturally disinfect: Pet bowls; let sit overnight for hard water build up, rinse with hot water Toilets; sprinkle baking soda first, then add vinegar and clean as usual with toilet brush. If it doesn't come clean, leave it in overnight. Countertops Cutting boards Stoves Vinly flooring Garbage cans Mirrors Litter boxes; sprinkle baking soda, add vinegar and scrub with toilet brush, rinse with hot water Baking Soda will clean and shine: Sinks, tubs and faucets Add a little to washer for whites Pour a little (not too much), down drains for odor, rinse with hot water Sprinkle in litter boxes before adding litter to help with odor And more, be creative! Years ago I heard that adding a little distilled white vinegar to a dog or cat's drinking water will help prevent fleas. I have been adding a splash of vinegar (about a Tablespoon to a large water bowl) now for 4 years, and have had flea free dogs. They don't seem to notice the taste of vinegar, so it works out great! Earl used to get fleas and then bring them into the house. It was hard to get rid of them, because I don't like to use chemicals. My cats stay inside, so I haven't had to worry about fleas with them. I'm sure it would work for cats, just add a small amount of vinegar to their water bowl (only 1/2 teaspoon).
I have been told that a small amount Brewer's Yeast added to the water is a natural flea preventative also. It is more expensive than vinegar, and I have not tried it myself. If you have a good system, why change it? Check with your Vet before trying any of these methods. |
Author I have always been a major animal lover. I remember when I was young (vaguely), I spent more time with my cats than with other kids. I have also had a total of 5 horses through the years. ArchivesCategories
